Mediterranean countries have a rich culture in food and Spain is no exception. Wherever you go in the Costa del Sol, you will find restaurants to suit all tastes and budgets, with the seafood being particularly good as it is mostly caught fresh that day. We have listed here some of our favourite restaurants and recommend you take the time to sample some of the delights on offer.

Restaurante "Aroma"

Fuengirola

Restaurante

This restaurant is situated in Fuengirola 100 meters from the sea front in a street nicknamed “Fish alley” “Restaurante Aroma” is a favourite of mine it was recommended through friends and exceeded all my expectations. This is an English spoken restaurant that has a truly international cuisine. Foods such as : Starters…… Fresh scallops, ostrich carpachio, Sushi, a truly impressive “half a melon with exotic fruits”. Main course: Chateau Briand with a béarnaise or tarragon sauce (for 2 persons), fillets of sol, fresh calves livers… Desserts:.. I´m not a great” sweet person” but the homemade “ banoffee pie” was very good Main courses cost approx (16 euros) These are just some examples of what is available. Aroma also has a comprehensive wine list with a pleasant” house red” This restaurant is situated in Fuengirola 100 meters from the sea front in a street nicknamed “Fish alley”. El Padrastro

Mijas

El Padrastro

“El Padrastro” is situated in Mijas Pueblo and has (apart from great food) stunning views across Fuengirola and the surrounding area. I would reserve this restaurant for special occasions as it is slightly more expensive (approx 20/25+ euros for a main course). The food and service justify the cost as you will be pampered by well- trained staff and the food is traditional and to the highest standard.

Restaurante El Higueron

Benalmadena

Restaurante El Higueron

El Higueron is situated on the side of a mountain over looking the coast-line. It is located at the Benalmadena junction of the motorway that runs from the airport to Fuengirola. In the mornings the bar is open for breakfast and great coffee At lunch time this is a very popular venue for wealthy business people. Here they serve local and northern dishes such as "Fabada" (a type of stew with beans and sausage). People travel from beyond Malaga to eat here. In the evenings the views down to the coast are fantastic and needless to say the food and service are excellent

The Spanish Arch (bar)

Fuengirola

The Spanish Arch (bar)

I was introduced to this venue by a friend of mine only a short time ago.. "and what a pleasant suprise". The Spanish Arch is a contemporary bar that has been beautifully designed. It has a great atmosphere and friendly staff. Ok it´s not a Spanish bar but I think its well worth the visit. The Spanish Arch is located in Calle Ollerias in Fuengirola Tel 952467481

Restaurante "El Bistro"

Fuengirola

Restaurante

I have been to the Bistro restaurante a number of times and it is always busy! (which I beleive is good sign) It serves a variety of dishes Spanish/international at a resonable price and in very pleasant surroundings. It is advisable to book this restaurant in advance. It is located in the center of Fuengirola and if you are driving there is parking under the main town square. (The restaurant is only 400 yards from there) Tel 952477701 (Calle Palangreros 30)
